The lightning arrestor is designed to protect motors and controls from voltage surges caused by lightning, switching loads or power line interferences. Surges of 500 volts or more are directed to ground by the lightning arrestor. Although the arrestor may or may not take repeated surges, no arrestor can withstand a direct lightning strike or a surge of unusually high voltage.
Economy and Heavy-Duty Models Single or Three Phase Power - Below 300 Volt or 600 Volt Models
Heavy-duty models have threads and nut to attach to electrical panel
(MOV) Varistors used for positive discharge of high voltage surges
120/240 volt single phase or three phase installations
For surges of 300 or 600 volts - high voltage directed to ground wire
Application: Lightning Arrestor can be used with a variety of enclosed motor controls.
Including: well pump controls (2 wire or 3 wire motors)
Both the pressure switch and control box
NOTE: If only one Lightning Arrestor is used, the pressure switch arrestor location offers an acceptable water system protection.
