1949

In The Beginning

In 1949, Noel Merrill Anderson founded Merril Manufacturing Company with his invention of the AnyFlow Yard Hydrant. Like most humble beginnings, Noel began Merrill in his one-car garage in Des Moines, Iowa, where it remained until its relocation to Storm Lake, Iowa, in 1957. Though much change has happened, Merrill continues to employ and operate in Storm Lake today!

1959

Room For Growth

By 1959, Merrill had expanded upon its product offering. The recently engineered Merrill Pitless Units, followed by Merrill Tank Floats, contributed to a newfound product line. These two lines, paired with the AnyFlow Hydrant, set the foundation for Merrill's offering, which has expanded to eleven categories today. Along with the offering, Merrill has grown to three different buildings and more than 75 employees to meet the demands of today's market!

1975

The Family Business

In 1975, Noel's son, Stephen Anderson, returned to the family business with an engineering degree and experience in the engineering field. In 1981, Stephen became the president of Merrill, while Noel maintained his office as chairman of the board.

2011

Three Generations

Fast forward to 2011, the family ties extend as Stephen's youngest son, Joel, joined Merrill. He was followed by his older brother, Matt, in 2016.

2024

75 Years of Merrill

Merrill has been around a long time, but our quality, service, and selection have never been better. In 2024, we celebrate three-quarters of a century of operation.
