Cable Guard
Installation Guide

For submersible well pumps

Protect the wire. Prevent casing wear.

Keeps submersible pump power cable from rubbing against the well casing.

Before you start

Check fit & parts

CG46: 1" or 1-1/4" drop pipe. CG100: 1" pipe only (wrap-around). Both fit 4"–6" well casing.

Tools & safety

Utility knife, appropriate well-pump cable tape and gloves. Disconnect and verify pump power is off before working.

4 simple steps

  1. Choose the guard

Verify drop pipe size and casing I.D. Select CG46 or the 1-inch-only CG100 model.

  2. Trim to fit the casing

Guards start at 6 inches. For 4-inch or 5-inch casing, carefully trim the outer tabs. Do not cut cable holders.

  3. Fit the guard & wire

Seat the guard on the drop pipe (CG100 wraps around it). Snap the wire into the holder or feed it through the openings.

  4. Secure & check clearance

Tape the cable to the drop pipe as directed by the pump manual. Check for pinching or snagging before lowering.

Danger — Electric shock / heavy equipmentDisconnect and verify power is off. Never lift or support a pump by its electrical cable. Use a qualified well professional for pump lifting or lowering unless properly trained and equipped.

ImportantDo not nick, crush or pinch the power cable. Cable guards do not replace securing wire to the pipe (often every 10 ft, per pump instructions). Allow for plastic pipe stretch without loose loops. Confirm the guard can pass all casing restrictions.
