Drop Pipe Coupling Installation Guide

About the Product

PVC & Stainless Models

A strong connection starts with the right installation.

Merrill drop pipe couplings connect threaded drop pipe in submersible pump systems. They help create a strong, tight connection that is easy to install when the pipe size, sealant, and threads are matched correctly.

Threaded drop pipe and PVC drop pipe coupling

Before You Start

  • Turn off power to the pump.
  • Make sure the pipe size and coupling match.
  • Clean the threads and have thread sealant ready.

Four-Step Installation

  1. Check the Parts

Make sure the coupling and both pipe ends are the same size. Check for dirt, cracks, or damaged threads.

  2. Apply Thread Sealant

Apply approved thread sealant or thread tape to the male pipe threads. Do not use too much.

  3. Thread the Coupling On

Start by hand so the threads go on straight. Tighten until snug and secure. Do not overtighten.

  4. Finish and Test

Support the pipe properly. Check that the connection is tight before lowering or running the system.
