Merrill Pressure Gauges

Pressure Doesn't Lie. Bad Gauges Do.

Bad Reading. Bad Diagnosis. Bad Day.

A cheap pressure gauge can mislead you, hide problems, and send you fixing the wrong thing. Merrill pressure gauges give you a clear, dependable reading across water systems, pumps, tanks, air lines, and pressure equipment.

Water Hammer and Pressure Gauge Problems
```
Water Hammer and Vibration Can Cause a Gauge to Stick. Liquid Filled Is the Answer.
Repeated shock and vibration can wear on a pressure gauge over time. When the needle sticks, the reading may no longer reflect what is really happening in the system.
Graphic showing how water hammer and vibration can cause a pressure gauge needle to stick and lead to a wrong diagnosis of the pump, pressure switch, or valve.
Nice Gauge
The gauge is easy to read, and being liquid filled, it appears to be pretty steady.
I don’t have it set up to check the accuracy, but it seems fine so far.
I’m going to be using it for an air inflation and deflation system. In this case, an analog gauge versus a digital gauge is perfect for what I want.
Like it!
Great Gauge
This gauge is well built for home or light commercial use. I’m using it for water pressure in my house, particularly because I want to see the pressure drop across my filtration system.
The gauge was easy to install and seems to be pretty accurate.
Pressure Gauge Guide
Common Questions
Why is my pressure gauge stuck?
A pressure gauge can get stuck from vibration, water hammer, pressure spikes, corrosion, or age. If the needle does not move, don’t trust the reading until you check the gauge.
Why is my pressure gauge needle bouncing?
Needle bounce usually comes from vibration, pump cycling, water hammer, pulsation, or pressure swings. If the needle is bouncing, a liquid-filled pressure gauge is usually the better choice because it helps calm the needle and makes the reading easier to trust.
How do I know if my pressure gauge is bad?
Your pressure gauge may be bad if the needle sticks, bounces nonstop, stays at one pressure, does not return to zero, looks cloudy, leaks, or gives a reading that does not match what the system is doing.
Is a cheap pressure gauge good enough?
Sometimes. A cheap pressure gauge may work for basic pressure checks, but vibration, water hammer, moisture, corrosion, and pressure swings can beat it up fast. Match the gauge to the application, not just the price.
What PSI pressure gauge do I need?
Pick a gauge with room above your normal pressure. If your system runs around 40–60 PSI, don’t use a gauge that maxes out at 60 PSI. A 0–100 PSI gauge is usually easier to read and gives room for pressure swings.
Can I use the same pressure gauge for water, air, oil, gas, and tire pressure?
Not always. A pressure gauge should match the job. Before using the same gauge for water, air, oil, gas, or tire pressure, check the PSI range, connection size, mounting style, and application rating. The wrong gauge can give a bad reading—or fail in the wrong application.
A pressure gauge should match the job it is being asked to do. A cheap dry gauge may work for simple pressure checks, but tougher applications can call for something better.
Match the gauge to the application first. Then choose the PSI range, connection style, and gauge type.
