Proper Installation Prevents Freezing
A frost-proof wall faucet only works correctly when installed with a slight downward pitch. This allows the faucet barrel to drain after every use, helping prevent trapped water, freezing, and burst pipes.
Installation Tip: The inlet must be slightly higher than the faucet outlet so the barrel drains completely after the water is turned off. A level or upward installation from inlet to outlet wall trap water inside the faucet and increase the risk of freeze damage.

This is what you need for your outside hose bibb if you live in an area that freezes. It will help keep your pipes from bursting. It is self-draining and has an anti-siphon device on the top. It is full turn, not a ball valve. The end connection is a 1/2-inch PEX connection. The 10-inch length should get you through most outside walls unless you have something very thick.

Install the wall faucet with the inlet positioned higher than the outlet so the faucet body slopes downward toward the spout. Avoid attaching shutoff valves or other devices to the hose end that could prevent the sillcock from draining.
